13.6% of newly married couples in Japan met online: survey

Meanwhile, the proportion of couples who had met through work stood at 28.2% for those who married in the previous three-year period and 21.4% for those who married during the later period.

The results are thought to be partly attributable to the COVID-19 pandemic, during which people have been spending more time at home, including working from home.

The survey was conducted in June 2021, covering couples with wives under 55 and singles aged 18 or over and under 55. single people.
